Caravan, Motorhome & Campervan Servicing

Regular servicing keeps your caravan, motorhome or campervan safe, reliable and ready for travel. At Keltie Campers Ltd we carry out habitation servicing and inspections for a wide range of leisure vehicles, following NCC (National Caravan Council) servicing standards.

What Is a Habitation Service?

A habitation service is an inspection of the systems inside a leisure vehicle that affect safety and comfort — not the vehicle's mechanical or engine components. It is the leisure equivalent of a domestic gas and electrical safety check, carried out to the standards set by the National Caravan Council.

Regular habitation servicing helps identify faults, wear and developing problems before they become larger issues. Most manufacturers recommend an annual habitation service, and many insurance policies and warranties have servicing requirements.

What a Habitation Service Covers

Electrical system checks
Battery condition, charging systems, mains hookup equipment, 12V systems, wiring and protection devices. We also check for any obvious electrical safety concerns.

Gas system checks
Gas appliances, pipework, connections and safety devices are inspected to confirm correct and safe operation. Our gas work is carried out under STGW certification — the NCC-recognised qualification for caravan industry gas work on privately owned leisure vehicles.

Water system checks
Water pump operation, pipe condition, tap function and connections are inspected for leaks or faults.

Appliance checks
Fridge, heating system, hot water and other fitted appliances are checked for correct operation where applicable.

Damp check
A moisture reading is taken at key risk areas including around windows, roof lights, the habitation door frame and external seams where water ingress is most likely to occur.

General safety inspection
Fire extinguisher, smoke and CO detector presence and condition, and general vehicle condition relevant to habitation safety.

Electrical Upgrades Following Servicing

Servicing often reveals electrical systems that are outdated, undersized or in need of improvement. If during a service we identify that the electrical system would benefit from an upgrade — a lithium battery, improved charging, solar or a Victron system installation — we'll advise on options and provide a separate quotation. There's no obligation, but many customers choose to address issues identified during servicing while the vehicle is already with us.
